Ionia Sentinel Standard, 19 Jun 1985

Donna F. Rice, 60, of 1572 Kelsey Highway, Ionia, died early Tuesday at Ionia 
County Memorial Hospital.  Born Aug. 22, 1924, in Lansing, she was the daughter 
of Fred and Ethel Ballard Winslow.  

She was married Dec. 1, 1945, in Maryland, to James L. Rice.  He died May 2, 
1984.  She had been an Ionia resident for 16 years and was formerly employed by 
the State Prison of Southern Michigan and the Farm Bureau.

Surviving are a son, David, of Ionia; two daughters, Mrs. James (Christine) 
McKenna of Ionia and Mrs. William (Sandra) Richardson of Wixom; two foster 
daughters, Jill Comer of Lake Odessa and Cheryle Gidley of Baldwin; six 
grandchildren; two sisters, Geraldine Smith of Mason and Loris Winslow of 
Lansing; nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a son and two 
brothers.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Roetman Funeral Home.  
Burial will be in Easton Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home 
Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.  A memorial for the American Lung 
Association has been established in care of the funeral home.
