Funeral services will be conducted at the Muir Presbyterian church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Burial will be in the Muir cemetery. Mr. Rice had been one of the outstanding business men of the community, having owned a farm north of Muir, which now belongs to Chester Ostrander. He left the farm a few years ago and purchased the grocery business which now is the Allen-Ludwick store. Several years he was the Muir postmaster. He held membership in the Gleaner lodge. He was born at Hopkins station and came to Ionia county when about 17 years of age. His parents lived for several years on the Snell place which later was purchased by James Martin, east of Ionia. He was united in marriage in August, 1903, to Miss Smith Hayden, who with two daughters, Mrs. Oswald Kosbard, of Ionia, and Mrs. Joseph Eaton, of Lyons, and a sister, Mrs. Laura Whitbeck, of Fennville, survive.
