Ionia Daily Sentinel, 12 Jun 1958

Mrs. Bertha Elzora Wellwood Rice 83, of 1002 Yeomans street died Thursday 
morning at Ionia County Memorial hospital where she had been a patient since 
Tuesday.  Mrs. Rice had been in ill health for two years.

She was born March 28, 1875 in Montcalm county, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 
Edward Wellwood.  Mrs. Rice’s husband, Harry, preceded her in death September 
9, 1948.  She was a member of the Lincoln Avenue Baptist church and of the U.S. 
Spanish War Veterans auxiliary.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Edward Belcher Sr., and Mrs. Harold C. Hill 
of Saranac; one son, Leslie H. Rice of Lansing; 10 grandchildren; two great-
grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and one brother, Mason Wellwood of 
St. Louis.

Time and place of funeral service will be announced by Myers funeral home 
Friday.
