Ionia Daily Standard – Wednesday 1 March 1899
W. L. Kidd was summoned to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hercules Rice last 
night, when she was supposed to be dying.  She braved the night, and made an 
heroic effort to save life this morning, but she finally yielded to grim 
reaper, who took her all too soon.  She was aged 21 years.  She will be 
brought to Highland Park for interment, but the day of burial is not yet fixed.
