JANET ISABELLA TODD RICE 1929-2017
Janet Isabella Todd Rice, 87, of Ionia, died on Feb. 12, 2017 in Northglenn, 
Colorado, We should all strive to emulate her lifelong grace and kindness. 
Janet was born on Sept.5, 1929 in Ionia to John Robert Todd and Leota Helen 
Layer. She graduated from Ionia High School and attended Kalamazoo College 
before her marriage to Stephen Rice on Sept. 8, 1948 at the Ionia First 
Presbyterian Church. Steve proceeded her in death in 1999.

In her last years, Janet fondly recalled growing up in Ionia with her three 
brothers; Robert "Bob" Todd (d.1995), John Stuart Todd (d. 2005) and Don 
Todd, who presently resides in Denver, Colorado with his wife Nancy (MacKay) 
Todd. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Doris Todd, of Boulder, 
Colorado. Janet's nieces and nephews were an important part of her life.

Janet was preceded in death by her daughter, Jule "Julie" Howard. Julie's 
children are Tobias Howard of Lincoln, Nebraska and Kira (Josh) Kline, U.S. 
Navy, Norfolk, VA. Janet's great grand-daughter is Trinity Kline. Janet lived 
with daughter Kate and Kevin Mackey in Broomfield Colorado along with 
grandchildren Stephen and Margrit Mackey, Janet worked at Consumer's Power 
and retired after years in customer service with the First Security Bank in 
Ionia. She was proud of hr community and loved her many Ionia friends, Janet 
was an artist and a beautiful singer. She sang with the choir of the Ionia 
First Presbyterian Church for most of her life. The family has decided that 
the most fitting memorial would be in the form of donations to the First 
Presbyterian Church of Ionia, for use by the choir, 125 E. Main St., Ionia,
