Rice, 475 State street, died Friday morning, February 22, after a short illness. He suffered a heart attack while at work at the Ypsilanti Reed plant where he has been employed for the past five years. He was born May 20, 1881, at Fowler, the son of the late George and Carissa Rice. Before working at the Ypsilanti Reed he was employed at the Michigan reformatory. He is survived by his wife, Daisy; three daughters, Mrs. Lewis Yoder of Ionia, Mrs. Ward Wagner of Laingsburg and Miss Lucille Rice at home; three sons, Leslie at home, recently discharged from the service, Otis of Ionia and Robert of Salem, Oregon; and twelve grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Subsequent Publication: Tuesday, February 26, 1946 Funeral services for Jelo N. Rice, who died Friday, February 22, were held from the Myers funeral home Monday afternoon at 1 o’clock. The Rev. A. R. Kuehn officiated. Interment was at the Eureka cemetery in Clinton county. Bearers were Charlie Blank, Harry Patterson, William Silvers and Frank Youdan. In charge of the flowers were Mrs. Franc Jeffery, Mrs. Julius Jeffery and Mrs. R. Grover.
