State Street Saturday evening, January 25, following a period of ill health which had extended over a considerable period but which had confined him to his bed for only a little more than day. Mr. Rich had been about his chores and work the day before his death and his passing came as a distinct shock and surprise to his many friends. Mr. Rich was born in Grattan township on August 1, 1852 and has been a resident of this locality all his life. In 1896 he was married to Mrs. Margaret Anderson, acting as a father to her three small children, Alice, Ernest and Verne, the two former, with the widow and mother surviving to mourn their loss. Verne passed away in 1909. Frank Rich, of Orleans, Dan Rich, of Tekonsha, brothers, and Mrs. Henry Dibble, of this city, a sister, also survive. Funeral services were held at the home on Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock with Rev. Harold Hayward, pastor of the church of Christ, officiating and burial was in the cemetery at Saranac.
