Walter E. Rich died Saturday at a nursing home in Ionia where he had been cared 
for since November, but had been in failing health for three years, having made 
his home with his son, John T. Rich, of that city.  Besides the son he is 
survived by three granddaughters, Mrs. Kermit Little, Miss Edith Rich and Miss 
Katherine Rich, all of Ionia.  He was born in 1860 at Smyrna and was married to 
Christian Aggie Randall in 1886, who preceded him in death.  The couple 
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1936.  Funeral services were held 
at the Myers Funeral Home Tuesday at 2 o’clock with burial in Smyrna cemetery.  
Those attending from this city were Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Fitzjohn, Mrs. Neil 
Sturgeon, Mrs. Frank Converse, Mrs. Blanche Ross, Mrs. Leo Hawley; also Warren 
Rich of Holt.  Mr. Rich was a brother of the late Mrs. Bert Rowley and Charles 
Rich.
