Rich, 77, Belding, went to be with her Lord Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Bessie was born Feb. 22, 1921, in Montague, the daughter of Robert and Cora Butts Grow. She worked as a seamstress at Jolly Kids Garment Factory and at Chrysler. She was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, of which she also served as secretary and as treasurer. Bessie was an avid bowler and a lover of bingo. In 1944 she was married to Russel Boundy. To this marriage were born Joyce Ann and Gloria Jean. Russel was killed in World War II. In 1946 she was married to Harvey Rich. To this marriage were born two daughters, Marcele and Regina, and a son, Harvey Gregory. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Viola Taylor, Orleans; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Clinton Grow. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Belding. Interment will be at the Rest Haven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family.
