Belding – George W. Rich Sr., 73, Orleans, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 1997 at
Butterworth Hospital.  He was born Feb. 22, 1924, in Belding, to Leon and Lila
Lambertson Rich.  He was employed with the city of Belding for 12 years and the
Ionia County Road Commission for 20 years, retiring from there in 1986.

He was married March 10, 1945, in Belding to Emma Jeffrey.  She preceded him in
death Dec. 3, 1976.

He is survived by his children, Judy and Jerry Trowbridge, Larry and Linda Rich,
all of Greenville, Clinton Rich and Schereen Cook of Orleans, George Rich Jr. of
Ionia; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; his sisters and brothers,
Evelyn Pearce, Harvey and Bessie Rich, Burley and Hazel Rich, Robert and Delores
Rich of Belding.  He also was preceded in death by his parents and three
brothers, Lucius, Leon and L.D.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Belding,
with Pastor Kenneth Harger officiating.  Interment will be in Rest Haven Memory
Gardens.  Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the funeral
home.  Memorials may be made to the Shepherd’s Chapel.  Envelopes will be
available at the funeral home.
