Mr. Rich was 71 years old and came to Otisco on the old farm 36 years ago. He was born in the state of New York and was a blacksmith by trade which occupation he followed for a number of years. He was at Plymouth in this state for a time, then came to Smyrna and operated a shop there. He cleared up two farms and the one he leaves is an excellent piece of land. Mr. Rich was an honorable and upright citizen and well liked by his neighbors and all with whom he became acquainted. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity of this city. He leaves a wife and two sons, Charles and Walter Rich, and two daughters, Mrs. L. E. Rowley of this city and Mrs. Geo. Pratt. The funeral service was held at his late home Wednesday, Rev. R. A. McConnell officiating, and his remains were placed to rest in the cemetery at Smyrna.
