The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, May 26, 1971
A life-long resident of Ionia County, Mrs. Lucy Edith Rich, 84, died early May 
26 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Zarold McGee at 313 North Jefferson 
Street, Ionia.

Born in Ionia, August 20, 1886, she was a daughter of Alonzo and Amy Robbins 
Parmenter, attended Ionia public schools and later moved with her parents to 
rural Orleans.

She married J. L. Rich in Stanton, November 25, 1908, and the couple returned 
to the Orleans area farm where they celebrated their Golden Wedding 
anniversary in 1958.  He preceded her in death the following year.  After her 
husband’s death, Mrs. Rich made her home for a time with her son Harold near 
Orleans, then moved to Ionia about six years ago to make her home with Mrs. 
McGee.

Surviving besides her son Harold and daughter, Mrs. McGee, is one daughter, 
Mrs. Emerson Blumberg of Flint; four grandchildren and two great-
grandchildren.  A son Albert and a daughter Dorothy also preceded her in death.

The body is at Leddick funeral home in Ionia where friends may call beginning 
at 7 pm Wednesday.  Members of the family will be at the funeral home from 7 
to 9 pm Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Thursday.  Services will be 
from the funeral home at 2 pm May 28, the Rev. Charles Fullmer of First United 
Methodist church officiating.  Burial will be in Higbee cemetery.
