The decedent was among the first settlers of the township of Otisco. He was a son of Noah Rich who built the hotel in Smyrna more than 50 years ago. Thirty years ago he moved into Bloomer township and cleared up a new farm, having also lived in Lyons and Bushnell previous to that time. He was born in Seneca county N.Y., and was an own brother of Belden Rich and a half brother of Abijah Rich. He leaves behind his wife, four children, Wi… (illegible) who lives on the old homestead, Mrs. Jennie Carroll of Crystal Lake, Edward Rich of Sparta, and Benjamin Rich. He also leaves one brother, Rufus Rich of Spencer. He enlisted in the old 3rd Mich. Reg. and served his country for two years. The funeral was held in Oakgrove, on his lawn, Wednesday and was attended by many of his old neighbors and friends. Interment took place at Bushnell Center cemetery. Walter and Chas.
