Excerpts from Belding Obituary

STEPHEN LIVERN RICH

Died Thursday January 22, 2026-age 71 of Belding.
Married Karen Beard on December 16, 1978- they had 47 years together, showing 
the each other importance of patience, gratitude, joy & most of all, Love.
Steve was the proud father of three children; Krista, Tracie, & Steve.
Also the proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren & a great-grandson.
He spend most of his time at the grandchildren's sporting events taking them 
hunting or fishing or just playing in the yard.
"Coach Big Steve" was a pillar in the Belding community. He served as a coach 
for many sports over the years, through football, baseball, basketball & 
softball. Also impacted the children as a driver's training instructor.
Steve worked at the Michigan Reformatory & Bellamy Creek Correctional Facilities 
for 31 years.
"Big Steve" had many hobbies, he loved gardening, fishing hunting & taking trips 
to South Dakota.
His favorite were cooking, baking, trying new foods with Karen, & spending time 
with his dogs.
Survived by his wife, Karen, his children, Krista (Todd) Powers of Belding & 
their children Brendan (Miah) Elizabeth, Riley, Grace, Eleanor, & soon-to- 
arrive great grandson, Easton; Tracie(Gabriel) Shyne of Grand Rapids & their 
children Aria, Eden & Naomi; Steve (Brianna) Rich of Belding & their children, 
Charlee, Anderson, Lincoln, Austyn, Cal & Theo; brothers Harold "Bubba" 
(Darlene) Rich of Orleans & Jerry (Judy) Rich of Muir.
Preceded in death by his father & mother, Harold & Jane Rich & best friends, Pat 
Foltz & Nick Ludwick.
Celebration of Life will take place Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 12:00 PM at 
Ada Bible Church-Cascade Campus, 8899 CASCADE Road SE, Ada,Mich. 49301. Family & 
friend Pastor Christian Stevens will officiate.
Visitation will take place at the church from 9:30-11:30 AM preceding the 
service A luncheon will be served prior to a 4:00 PM burial at Orleans Township 
Cemetery, Orleans,Michigan.
Donations can be made to Steve's wife, Karen Rich.
