Portland- Merrill F. Richards, Jr. 28, of 116 1/2 Depot, Ionia, died July 17 
in Bloomsburg, Pa. as the result of a traffic accident.

He was born December 4, 1957, in Lansing, the son of Merrill and Beverly 
Ridenour Richards Sr. 

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, of Ionia, his parents. Mr. and Mrs. 
Merrill Richards, Sr. of Portland, three brothers, LeRoy and Eugene Richards, 
both of Portland and Charles Richards of Hubbardston, and one sister, Mrs. 
Rosemary Ferguson of Sunfield.

He was a veteran of the US Navy. He was a member of the Volunteer fire 
Department in Ionia and a member of the Portland Civic Players.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 pm from the Neller Funeral Home in 
Portland with the Rev. Willis Braun of LeValley United Methodist Church 
officiating.

Burial will be in Portland Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Arthur 
Ferguson, John Ferguson, Timothy Schneider, Robert Hamilton, Tim Doty and 
Larry Witsma.
