All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/mi/mifiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Patricia Currigan currigan1932@comcast.net January 12, 2022, 10:21 am Lake Odessa Wave-Times- February 16, 1933 AN EARLY PIONEER PASSED AWAY FEB. 11 Mother of George Richards of Woodland Township and of Mrs.Eugene Storum of Ionia Again death has taken another pioneer resident of this vicinity, Mrs.Dorthea Richards of Woodland township, but who lived near the Odessa line, and whose family was identified with Lake Odessa, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Eugene Storum of Ionia. The funeral was held at the home at 2:30 p.m. Monday. Rev. E.J. Nest officiated and burial was at Lakeside cemetery. OBITUARY Mrs Dorothea Mutchler Richards was born in Wurtemburg, Germany, February 26,1853, daughter of Mr and Mrs Mathis Mutchler and passed away at the home of her daughter Mrs.Lydia Storum, Feb. 11, 1933, at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 11 days. She came to this country at the age of 18 and after a short stay in new Jersey, came to Ionia and was there married to John Jacob Richards, on March 15, 1875, who preceded her in death on June 8, 1881. She resided on a farm in Woodland township where she lived for 58 years. Born to this union were four children; Lydia G., George B, with whom she resided in her later years. Herman G. and John J. of whom the latter two preceded her in death. Herman G. passed away near Portland in 1907, and John J. during the Spanish American war at Manila, P I in 1900. She leaves to mourn their loss one daughter Lydia G.Storm of Ionia and one son George B. Richards of Lake Odessa; three grandchildren, Miss Fern Richards of Flint, Gerald S. Richards of Milwaukee, Wis., and Mrs Ray Elvert of Portland, and one great-grandchild Miss Yvonne Richard of Milwaukee, Wis.;three sisters, Mrs Christine walker of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Fredericke Gerlinger of Woodland and Mrs.Caroline Hough of Lake Odessa, and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
