Vernon H. “Mike” Richardson, aged 83, a long-time resident of Clarksville, 
went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007.

Mike was born in Clarksville on May 27, 1924 to Ellis and Mildred (Jepson) 
Richardson. He graduated from Clarksville High School in 1942 and was united 
in marriage to Pearl Piercefield on Nov. 27, 1946. He was a great husband, 
father, grandfather and special brother. Mike had been a life-long member of 
the Gateway Community Church where he served on the board for 40 years. He 
loved his Lord and served Him faithfully. Mike was a farmer, and also retired 
from Big L Lumber Co. after 30 years. He had served the Village of Clarksville 
as a member of the village council for over 40 years, including six years as 
mayor. Mike enjoyed serving his community, had been a scout leader and had 
even served as the village constable. He was a great sports fan and loved his 
Spartans! Mike also took great pride in watching his grandchildren's 
activities.

He is survived by his daughters, Georgia (Alan) Sharp of Portland, Karen 
(Mark) Massie of Lake Odessa, Sharon (Tom) Sanders of Grand Rapids and Brenda 
(Adell) Hart of Grand Rapids; daughter-in-law, Annette (Jim) Savage, of 
Caledonia; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ed Richardson 
and Francis (Doreen) Richardson and sister, Faye Fahrni.  Mike was preceded in 
death by his parents; wife, Pearl; son, Dennis Richardson; stepmother, Hulda 
Richardson and brothers, Elmer, Ellis Lee and Wayne.

Visitation will be held at the Koops Memorial Chapel in Clarksville on 
Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007 from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service 
will be held at the Clarksville Bible Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 19. 
Burial will be in Clarksville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to 
the Richardson family for a cause to be determined at a later time.
