Richmond, 74, of Greenville died Monday afternoon, Dec. 1, 2008, at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital, Grand Rapids. Elsie was born Jan. 5, 1934, in Greenville, the daughter of Earl and Minnie Weeks Bigler. In earlier years, Elsie worked at Jolly Kids in Belding and later at Gibson’s in Greenville, retiring in the early 1980s. She liked to bake and crochet and was on a bowling league in Belding for nearly 40 years. She loved spending time camping, fishing and being with family. She was married May 15, 1954, in Belding, to Ralph Richmond, and he survives along with their children, Gloria and Rick Beach, Carl and Connie Richmond, all of Texas; grandchildren, Tonya and Brian Van Portfliet, Katrina and Jeremy Baylis, Jason and Ashley Brown, Jake and Kristin Rowley, Michael Richmond; several great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Alvin, Floyd, Tootie and Judy. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Diana Rowley in 1999. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor Ken Harger of Shiloh Community Church officiating. Interment will be in West Montcalm Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association.
