Richmond, 61, brother of Milan Richmond of Bartonville and Mrs. Charles Bowen of White’s Bridge, will regret to hear of his death in Presbyterian hospital, Newark, New Jersey, last Wednesday. Mr. Richmond was born near Smyrna, graduated from Belding high school with the class of 1890, afterward from Michigan State college. He was a teacher in the Smyrna and Cook’s Corners schools and later became a graduate in the science of chemistry. He was active in this work for many years in Indo-China and for some time had been employed by the Colgate company in Nutley, New Jersey. Funeral services were held in the late home Saturday. Besides the relatives from near Smyrna who went to the funeral, Ellis Ranney of Greenville a former classmate of Mr. Richmond in college, was in attendance. It happened that Mr. Ranney was in the east, on a business trip at the time and notified of his friend’s illness by home folks. The deceased died of pneumonia and leaves his wife, Celia, besides the above mentioned relatives.
