Bertha Anyway was born in the township of Odessa July 18th, 1877, where she lived till the time of her marriage, with the exception of what time she was away attending school at Saranac and Big Rapids, or teaching school. She was united in marriage with Howard Richmond Jan. 5th, 1898, and they lived with his parents since that time. She leaves a husband and parents and two sisters who mourn their loss, besides a large circle of friends to whom she had endeared herself by her loving disposition and character. Down the dark valley alone, alone. Our wife-winged dove in her beauty has flown. Her lentder eyes, that shone so bright, Are closed forever to earthly light. She has left the love that was round her thrown And down the dark valley has fled alone. Alone, alone, but beyond the night Or that darkened vale is a radiant light. Which lights the path with a brighter ray Than shines the brightness of solar day. It bursts from God's ethereal throne And lights the valley she trod alone.
