Rickert passed away Saturday morning, October 11, after a lingering illness. Martha, daughter of Robert and Lucinda Hale Howe, was born in Orleans township, November 22, 1871. She spent her early life there and September 27, 1892 she was married to Brockley E. Rickert and they located on the farm home in Keene township where they lived until December, 1903. At that time they came to Saranac and bought a home where they have since lived. Three children were born to this union, two of whom have passed on, Myrtie Courter and Hazen Rickert. Mrs. Rickert was a charter member of the Saranac Camp of Royal Neighbors and was an ardent worker as long as she was well enough to carry on. January 7, 1937 she suffered a stroke rendering her helpless for the rest of her life and two years before that she was a semi-invalid, always patient and kind. She is survived by her husband, Brockley, one daughter, Nola Adgate, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Rickert of Keene and Mrs. Nora Post of Nunica; four grandchildren, Richard Courter, Rodney, Bruce and Brenton Adgate. Funeral services were held from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Max Adgate in Berlin township. Rev. E.H. Humphrey officiated and burial was on the family lot in Saranac.
