Rickle, 79, of Greenville, passed away Friday morning, Jan. 13, 2006, at Metron of Greenville. The son of Leo Kirk and Margaret Agnes Loveland Rickle, he was born on June 7, 1926, in Belding. A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy and helped liberate the Philippine Islands. On Sept. 12, 1945, at her parent’s home, he married the former Betty Jean Emmons. Art worked as an asphalt plant manager for most of his life and enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was also a skilled woodworker and liked to putter in the garage. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Lilly Mae Davis and Dorothy Cavanaugh. Surviving are his wife of more than 60 years, Betty Rickle; a daughter, Linda Bitner; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randall L. and Cheryl Rickle, and Kevin A. and Kendra Rickle, all of Greenville; eight grandchildren, Lisa Tabor, Lori Johnson, Heather White, Holly Bitner, Nathan Rickle, Joseph Rickle, Tara Rickle, and Bryce Rickle; eleven great-grandchildren, Amanda Cass, Jonae Tabor, Desiree Bitner, Kaleb White, Trey Chapin, Cameron Patrick Misner, Aaron Arthur Rickle, Aiden Jay Rickle, Owen James Rickle, and Dylan McCoy; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Gallagher of Greenville; a brother-in-law, Bob Emmons of Greenville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. on Monday at Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with the Rev. Ken Harger, pastor of Shiloh Community Church, officiating. Burial will follow privately at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation is 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
