Rider, 71, of 940 Woodriff drive, Half Moon lake, near Stanton, died early Wednesday evening at Sheridan Community hospital, following a short illness. He was born in Bloomer township, Montcalm county, May 21, 1905, the son of Ernest and Alvina Truesdell Rider. He attended rural schools and worked at REO and Motor Wheel in Lansing for several years. He was employed at the Chevrolet division of General Motors in Flint from 1949 until retirement in 1966. He married Anna Wirtz, February 12, 1949, in Ionia. they made their home in Flint until moving to Half Moon lake in 1968. Surviving besides his wife are four sons, William Rider of Flint, Marshall and Edward Rider of Indiana and Fran Wirtz of Stanton; one daughter, Mrs. Robert Cook of Indiana; 25 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Servicers are Saturday at 1 pm at the Leddick funeral home in Ionia. Burial is in Highland Park cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
