J. Rider Drops Dead At His Home Heart Trouble Cause of Sudden Taking Away of Stafford Superintendent. J. J. Rider, superintendent of the E. H. Stafford Manufacturing company, died suddenly from heart trouble shortly after arriving at his home, 691 West Washington street, this noon. Mr. Rider had been suffering from leakage of the heart for some time. William Redemsky was painting at the home when Mr. Rider arrived home. Before going inside, he asked Mr. Redemsky if he thought he would be able to get under the porch before it would rain. As Mr. Rider stepped on the porch he fell dead. Mr. and Mrs. Rider have been residents of the city for about five or six years, coming here from Wisconsin. When first coming to the city he was connected with the Stafford factory and later resigned that position to become business manager with the T. A. Carten store. This position he held two years, resigning to again become connected with the Stafford plant. Both Mr. and Mrs. Rider are from the southwest, Mr. Rider having lived a large part of his life in the state of Texas. Besides his wife he leaves a son. Practically all of Mr. Rider’s relatives are prominent residents of the state of Texas, and are members of a long line of southern ancestry. Mr. Rider is a member of all the Masonic orders here in the city. He held the office of principal sojourner in Ionia chapter No. 14, R.A.M., and has been a active worker in all the orders. As yet no funeral arrangements have been made.
