Ionia County News - Thurs. Jan. 21, 1943


Glenn F. Ries, 24, died at his home, 447 King Street, Sunday evening January 17. 
He had been in failing health the past two years. 

Deceased, who was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Ries, was born in Ionia February 24, 1918. 
He attended Ionia high school and graduated with the class of 1936.

On October 1, 1937, he was united in marriage with Gladys Ritenburgh of Ionia, who, with their
20 month old daughter, Verity Jean, survives him. He also leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. 
Harvey Ries; three brothers, LaVere, Detroit; Paul of Lansing and Duane of Ionia.

Funeral services were held from Boynton’s Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon. Rev. Paul L. Stewart 
officiated and burial was in Balcom cemetery.

Pall bearers were M. Wieczorek, Demard Caswell, Fred Clark Clark, Eugene Hackett, Robt. 
Alspaugh and T. Succop. Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Viggo Nielsen and Mrs. M. Wieczorek.

Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ries, 
Ray Johnson Mr. and Mrs. Guy Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Reis, Lansing; Kenneth Ritenburgh, 
Aurora, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. LaVear Ries, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Trumpower, Mrs. Helen Poelk and son, 
Mrs. James Pruett and daughter, Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Delcamp, 
Orville Johnson, Fayette, Ohio; Mrs. Willard Youngs, Grand Rapids; Mrs. A.C. Worden, Cadillac,; 
Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Worden, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Worden and George Worden of Bay City.
