Ionia Sentinel Standard, 28 Mar 1990

Helen E. Ries, 86, of Ionia, died March 27 at Ionia County Memorial Hospital. 
She was born Jan. 6, 1904 in Blanchard, the daughter of John and Charlotte
(Goodnough) Simmons.  

She resided at Pine Vista for five years.  She was a member of the Ionia Moose
Lodge for more than 50 years and was a member of the Good Cheer Club.  She
married Buster Ries June 8, 1921, he preceded her in death Nov. 22, 1967.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Virginia) Magsamen of Cicero, Ill.; three
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel Fitzgerald of Ionia
and Myrtle Hall of Clio.  She was preceded in death by three brothers.

Funeral service will be Friday at 1 p.m. from the Myers Memorial Chapel in Ionia
with the Rev. Kenneth Harger of Shiloh Community Church officiating.  Organist
will be Beverly Harger.  Burial is in Balcom Cemetery.  Moose Lodge services
will be under the auspices of the Ionia Moose Lodge #998.  Visiting hours will
be today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the
Myers Memorial Chapel.
