Lucile Laura Riggle, 88, of Saranac went to be with the Lord Sunday, Dec. 24,
2000.  She was born in Vergennes Township Dec. 12, 1912, the daughter of
Adelbert and Louise (Wingeier) Hardy.  On April 14, 1932, she married Arthur
Pinckney.  She was widowed in 1946, and in 1949 married Robert Riggle, preceded
her in death in 1978.

She was a member of the first graduating class from the former Saranac school
building on Vosper Street and attended Western Michigan University.  She became
a teacher and taught for a time in rural schools on Potters and Sayles Roads,
north of Saranac.  In 1946, she assumed operation of Pinckney’s Tavern (now
Germain’s).  She retired from that in 1974 to her farm on Sayles Road where she
resided until her death.

She is survived by three daughters, Janet Cahoon, Joan (Gordon) McCaul and Judy
(Ben) Tower; one step-daughter, Audrey (Tom) Hollandsworth; 13 grandchildren and
21 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Hardy; sisters-in-law, Rose Ann and
Cathaleen Hardy; and several nieces and nephews.  A second brother, George Hardy
and a granddaughter, Brenda McCaul preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m., at the Saranac Community Church
with Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 p.m.
to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the Lake Funeral Home in Saranac.
