Portland Review - Sunday, Oct. 19, 2004

Martha I. Riley, 95, formerly of Portland, went to be with the Lord and Savior 
on Oct. 14, 2003 at Heartland Healthcare Center in Ionia.

She was born in Ashley on Flag Day, June 14, 1908 the daughter of Otto and 
Caroline (Phy) Beck. Mrs. Riley was a member of the Portland Church of the 
Nazarene for over 60 years. while at Heartland Healthcare Center she enjoyed 
playing bingo and spending time with people that came in from the Portland 
area. She was a true Ambassador for the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 65 years, Clayton C. 
Riley in 1993; four brothers; four sisters.

Surviving are her children Joyce (Bob) Phillips of Ionia, Carol (Marvin) 
Sandborn of Crystal, and Lee (Elaine) Riley of Roscommon; six grandchildren; 13 
great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; several step great and 
great-great-grandchildren; brother, Harold (Frieda) Beck of Ithaca; several 
nieces and nephews.

Services were held Oct. 17 at the Portland Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. 
Daniel Steman, Pastor officiating. Interment followed at Portland Cemetery. 
Arrangements were handled by the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland. On

of the Nazarene.
