White was born June 2, 1843 at Dumfries, Canada, and died in the township of Day, Montcalm Co., Mich., December 10, 1907, being 64 years, 6 months and 8 days of age at the time of her death. She moved to Michigan with her parents when 4 years of age. The family settled in Keene township, Ionia county, where she was married at the age of 19 to Cyrus J. Ring of the same place. They then moved to Alton, Kent Co., where they lived four years, then settled on a farm one mile west of Smyrna, where they lived many years, moving from there to Belding, then to Grand Rapids, where her life companion died May 1, 1904. One child, a daughter, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ring, but they were always doing for the homeless. Those living to survive her are her daughter, Mrs. Waldo Francisco of Grand Rapids, one grandson, Don Francisco, and one adopted daughter, Mrs. Floyd Totten of Edmore, where the sudden summons came. She also leaves three brothers and one sister, Calvin, John and George White, all of Lowell and Mrs. Rebecca Wiggins of Eureka, Kas., besides many near friends. She was always of a religious nature, being at one time a member of the Baptist church of Smyrna. About 17 years ago she accepted the Adventist faith, joining the church of Grand Rapids, where she was a member at the time of her death. She was a most devout Christian woman, devoted to her Bible and church. She was a great missionary worker, always lending a helping hand and a kind word to all those in need. She had devoted a great deal of her time caring for the sick. She was very patient during her sickness, being in poor health for the past 3 years, although she was called so suddenly to leave us, her last words being “God’s will be done.” The funeral services were held at Smyrna, her old home, conducted by Elder Matthews of Cedar Lake, a member of her faith. Interment at Smyrna cemetery Friday, Dec. 13. Card of Thanks: We desire to return our sincere and heartfelt thanks to all who so kindly assisted us and extended their sympathy during the sickness and death of our dear mother, Mrs. Almira Ring.
