Ionia Sentinel Standard, 4 Apr 1974

Blake W. Rising, formerly of Woodland, died Monday in Barry county medical 
facility in Hastings where he had been a patient for the past five years.  Born 
September 13, 1885, in Barry county he was a son of Elmer and Cora Hatton 
Rising and retired form farming in 1960 as a lifelong resident of the Woodland 
area.  He was a member of Woodland Zion Lutheran church  On April 23, 1923, he 
married Clara Neithamer at Woodland.

Survivors include his wife, a son, Gene of Christiansted, St. Croix, Virgin 
Island, three grandsons, and a sister, Mrs. Clare Durkee of Hastings.  The body 
is at Pickens-Koops funeral chapel in Lake Odessa where services will be at 11 
a.m. Thursday, Rev. Randall Metz of Zion Lutheran church officiating.  Burial 
is in Lakeside cemetery, Lake Odessa.
