Daily Sentinel-Standard - Monday, March 28, 1960

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Phelps funeral chapel 
for August V. Risser, 83, who died Sunday  morning at an Ionia rest home. He 
had been a patient there for two years and formerly lived at route two, Saranac.

He was born August, 21, 1876 at Washington, Ill, the son of Andrew and Mary 
Risser. In 1910 he was married to Maggie Pickering at new Cambria, Kansas. She 
preceded him in death in 1916.

He lived in Easton township, Ionia county since 19_8 and was engaged in farming 
many years. He was also employed at E.H. Stafford Mfg. Co. Hayes-Ionia body 
shop and Ypsilanti Reed Furniture Co.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jake (Mary) Emelander, route 2, Saranac, and a 
son, Andrew Risser, of Ionia; three grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Floyd Emshwiller will officiate at the service and interment will be 
in Easton cemetery. 

Members of the family will be at the funeral chapel Monday and Tuesday evenings 
from 7 to 9 o'clock.
