Ritenberg died of consumption at her home 4 ½ miles north of town last Saturday, July 2nd, after about a years illness. Her maiden name was Mertilla A. Merritt and she was born in Berlin township Sept. 27, 1872. She was married to Wm. J. Ritenberg Feb. 25, 1891, and to them was born five children, four of whom survive her. The funeral was held at the South Berlin church on Tuesday, Rev. Wilcox officiating and the remains were interred in the cemetery at Saranac. The pulpit and altar of the pretty little country church was appropriately draped and kind hands furnished beautiful flowers. A quartet composed of J. W. Ireman, Lewis Vandecar, Mrs. Lewis Vandecar and Alta Ireman with Roy Ireman as organist rendered appropriate music for the occasion. It was only last December that Mr. and Mrs. Ritenberg burned an infant daughter and now the death of the wife and mother makes the home doubly afflicted. The sympathy of the entire community rests with the bereaved family.
