Lyons Herald, 23 Aug 1917

Mrs. Catherine Ritenburg died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nelson 
Whitmore, in this village Aug. 7, 1917, aged 76 years and 10 days.  Her maiden 
name was Catherine Jones, and she was born in Canada July 27, 1841.  She was 
married to David Ritenburg in 1857.  The came to Michigan in 1882 and settled 
in Ionia county.  To them were born seven children of whom five are living:  
Mrs. Nelson Whitmore, James Ritenburg of Lyons; Ira Ritenburg of Lebanon; and 
James Ritenburg of Ionia.  The husband died in 1893 and ever since that she has 
made her home with Mrs. Whitmore.  In Canada she was a member of the Methodist 
church.  Though she had not transferred to the church here, she continued in 
the faith.
