The Ionia County News, Thursday, December 8, 1949


Ed A. Ritenburgh, 561 Harrison St., Ionia, died suddenly Wednesday, November 
30 at 8:15 p.m. at the Ionia Memorial Hospital.  He was admitted to the 
hospital Friday evening, Nov. 25, for an emergency appendectomy.

Mr. Ritenburgh was the son of David and Catherine Ritenburgh.  He was born in 
Hamilton, Ontario, Sept. 13, 1878.  At the age of three he came to Michigan 
and lived most of his life in Ionia County.  He was married to Martha Etta 
Whitten in 1901.  To them were born ten children.

He is survived by his wife and four children: a son, Oliver, of Ionia; three 
daughters, Mrs. Roy Grant of Midland, Mrs. Alice Ralston and Mrs. Roy W. Smith 
of Ionia.  Also 28 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were from Myers Funeral Home Saturday afternoon.  Interment 
was in Lyons Cemetery.
