Dec. 10, 1970 Harold E. Ritter Passed Away Harold E. Ritter 78, rural Lake Odessa, passed away Monday night at Osteopathic Hospital, Grand Rapids, following several month's illness. He was born in Groten, S. D. May 30, 1892, son of Anthony and Jane (Stanton) Ritter, and Came to lake Odessa with his parents at the age of two years. Mr. Ritter served in the U.S. Army in France during World War I. He married Florence Carbaugh of Portland Feb. 26, 1925, and they resided in Detroit where he was employed as maintenance man at the Cadillac Motor Co. for 32 years. He retired in 1957 and they returned to lake Odessa to reside. Mr. Ritter was a Charter member of Lake Odessa F&AM and a member of Lake Odessa OES chapter, Woodland Wagonneers Pony Club, Battle Creek Pony Association, Lakeside Barracks No. 2161 and served as commander of the organization. Surviving are his wife and a sister, Mrs. Claud (Mabel) Teachout of Lansing. A son, Kneale Anthony, passed away in 1930 and a son Kenneth Dean, in 1933. Funeral service were held at Pickens Funeral Chapel Thursday (today) at 1:30. Rev. Marvin Zimmerman and Rev. Roy Houghton officiated, with burial in Lakeside cemetery.
