Rittersdorf, age 63, of Greenville, died Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 3, 2009 at his home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Hospice. Joseph was born on April 7, 1945 in Belding the son of Joseph T. and Ardith Tran Rittersdorf. He graduated from Belding High School with the class of 1963 and proudly served his country in the Army National Guard being honorably discharged in August of 1971. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. He and his partner owned and operated a convenience store at the corner of East Main and Cleveland St., in Ionia, which was known as MIJO’s. They owned the store from 1981 until they sold it in 1995. He is survived by his partner of 32 years, Michael L. Fisher, stepson Chad Fisher (Chris Rust) of Kansas City, Mo., brothers and sisters, Richard Rosalie Rittersdorf of Largo Florida., Jean (Charles) Smith of Greenville, Dave (Becky) Rittersdorf of Allegan, Karen (Phil) Anderson and Steve (Carol) Rittersdorf, all of Greenville, Barbara (Don) Brockway of Belding, Pete (Ruth) Rittersdorf of Greenville, Joanne (Ted) Nadwodnik of Gowen and Peggy Hiler of Greenville and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces-and-nephews. He was preceded by his parents whom he loved very much, one nephew Kevin Rittersdorf and a brother-in-law David Hiler. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Charles Catholic Church with Father Phil Salmonowicz presiding. Interment will be in the spring at St. Charles Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 and 6- 8 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 7:30 at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or Spectrum Hospice.
