He had been ailing for two years. He was born May 3, 1888 in Keene Township, the son of John and Clara Rittersdorf and spent his lifetime there as a farmer. He was a member of St. Mary’s church at Miriam and the Holy Name Society. He was married at St. Mary’s church April 13, 1908 to Katherine Gasper. He is survived by his wife and eight sons: Edward, Grand Rapids, Arthur, R1, Leonard, Lowell, Harold, R1, Royal, this city, Robert, R1, Ada, James at home and Ronald, R2, Ada. One son, Andrew, died in 1933 He leaves four sisters, Mrs. Leo Cowles, R1, Mrs. Peter Holzgen, Grand Rapids, Mrs. Nicholas Simon, Byron Center, and Mrs. Frank Bevins, Grand Rapids; two brothers, Julius Rittersdorf, R2, and Leo, Holly; 24 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The Rosary was recited Monday evening at Huffman Funeral Home. The funeral service was held Tuesday at 10 o’clock at St. Mary’s church with Rev. Fr. C. E. Steves officiating and the burial was in St. Mary’s cemetery. The pall bearers were nephews Fred, John and Michael Rittersdorf, Roland Cowles, James Simon and Gordon Holzgen.
