Rittersdorf, age 84, of Greenville, died Sunday, June 12, 2005, at Spectrum Health United Memorial United Campus in Greenville. Joseph was born July 1, 1920, in Belding, the son of Julius and Sarah Andres Rittersdorf. Joseph served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired from Gibson’s in 1984 after 35 years of service. He was a life long farmer and a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and the Disabled American Veterans of Greenville. On Sept. 12, 1942, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Miriam, he married Ardith Trann. On Sept. 29, 1999 she preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother Louis Rittersdorf, sister Lorena Trann and son-in-law David Hiler. Joseph is survived by his children and their spouses, Jean and Charles Smith of Greenville, Karen and Phil Anderson of Greenville, Barbara and Don Brockway of Belding, JoAnne and Ted Nadwodnik of Gowen, Peggy Helen of Greenville, Richard and Rosalie Rittersdorf of Largo, Fla., Joseph Rittersdorf Jr. and Mike Fisher of Flint, David and Becky Rittersdorf of Allegan, Steve and Carol Rittersdorf, Peter and Ruth of Greenville; sister, brothers and their spouses, Mary Ann and John Lieffers of Belding, John and Marilyn Rittersdorf of Belding and Fred and Beverly Rittersdorf of Rockford. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Catholic Church, Greenville, with Father Phil Salmonowicz presiding. Visitation is 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday with the Rosary at 8 p.m. at Johnson- Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society of the charity of choice.
