Working with Ritterstorf at the time was Dale Richmond, who was taking away the sawed product and edging from the saw as Ritterstorf pushed them through. George and Raymond Martin, of this city, were also working at the mill and when Richmond called to them they hurried over to where Ritterstorf was lying and then put him in a car and took him to the home of his parents. Ritterstorf was unconscious from the moment he was struck with the stick and after he was taken to the house it was decided to rush him to the office of Dr. A. B. Penton, at Smyrna, so that he could have proper care. Richmond and Raymond Martin drove the car with the injured man to Smyrna, but life had flown while they were on the trip and after one glance at the stricken man Dr. Penton announced that he was dead. Coroner Bruce G. Fales was called and after hearing the account of how the accident had happened, decided that no inquest would be necessary. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock at St. Mary’s Catholic church, Miriam, of which the young man had been a lifelong member, with Rev. Fr. L. L. Dorr officiating and burial was in the cemetery there. Survivors are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ritterstorf and 8 brothers: Edward, Arthur, Leonard, Harold, Royal, Robert, James and Ronald, all living at home.
