Ritz, 68, of Fenwick passed away March 29, 2012. She was born Sept. 12, 1943 in Ionia, the daughter of Raymond and Pauline (Bauer) Reister. Paula married Daryl Ritz Sept. 1, 1972 in Petoskey. She went to St. John's Lutheran School and graduated from Ionia High School. She worked for Chrysler in Lyons, Frigidaire in Greenville and Magna Donnelly in Alto. She was a life long member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School. She also helped put on different breakfasts, Chopped Suey Supper and was famous for selling Sauerkraut at the Church Bizarre. Paula looked forward every summer for her grandkids to come visit. She enjoyed cooking, spending time in Tennessee with her grandkids and Christmas was her favorite holiday. Paula is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Daryl L. Ritz of Fenwick; children, Brian Ritz of Grand Rapids and Denise (Garrad) Smith of Tennessee; brothers, Ron (Pat) Reister of Manistee, Wayne (Jan) Reister of Midland and Dave Reister of Greenville; sister Linda (Dick) Sowerby of Greenville; grandsons, Zachariah Smith and Nathaniel Smith; brothers-in-law Lynn (Toad) Ritz and Liz Swift of Fenwick, and Jerry LaVelle of Florida; special friends, Sue Lincoln, Kris Ward and Trish Dann; several nieces and nephews and special racing family of 615. She was preceded in death by her parents, mother-and father-in-law, Francis and Arvilla Ritz; several aunts and uncles; and sisters-in-law, Maxine Ritz and Charlene LaVelle. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Ionia with Pastor Bogda officiating. Interment Sunny Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or Michigan Cancer Society.
