Rivard, 89, of Belding, died on Saturday evening, July 12, 2014 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. Fran was born on January 16, 1925 in Munising, the son of George and Vina (Mogg) Rivard. Fran proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy. Fran was a graduate of U of M and worked as an engineer for 40 years at Electrolux in Greenville, designing refrigerators. He was active in The America Legion and Rotary Club of Greenville, Restless Ones Camping Group, serving as President, and a longtime member of Shiloh Community Church. Fran was devoted to the Boy Scouts of America, serving in positions from Scoutmaster on up to many positions at the district level; he attended many National Scout Jamborees where he used his love of cooking to serve all the staff. Fran was a man of great faith which he lived and led by example. Fran is loved and survived by his wife; Marie (Ritter) Rivard, his children; Sherry (Robert) Mountney of Greenville, Janess (Bruce) Braman of Belding, step children; Marsha (Roger) Anthony, Sue (Randy) Brownell, Mary (Kort) Warner, Dale Gunderman, Daryl Gunderman, Kerry Gunderman, Scott Gunderman, Kevin Gunderman, a sister; Sally Kern of Ann Arbor, and a brother; Joe Rivard of Marquette, grandchildren; Adrienne(Jack) Barna, Angela (Justin) Pluskhat, Vanessa Braman, Rob (Connie) Mountney, Angela (Alan) Rummler, Amy (J) Lambrecht, Leslie Warner, Alisha (Dennis) Strohkirch, and ten great grandchildren. Fran is preceded by his parents, his first wife; Cleo Libby, his second wife; Wanda Leppink and his brothers; Richard and Royce. Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 15 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Johnson- Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Shiloh Community Church with Pastor Ken Harger and Pastor Shane Prewitt officiating. Burial will take place privately at Rest Haven Memory Gardens. Memorials in memory of Francis may be given to Faith Community Christian School, Shiloh Community Church Campground Chapel Fund or the Belding Museum; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
