The Company H. firing squad under command of Capt. William Crowley, commanding officer of the Ionia company of the Michigan national guard, fired three volleys over the grave at Highland Park cemetery, and a bugler sounded taps. A full Masonic funeral followed the military rites at the graveside, with Bert Fox, representative of the Masonic order in charge. The Rev. Fr. Everett Moore, pastor of the Episcopal church, conducted the service at the St. John’s Episcopal church. Bearers were Edwin White, Jack Mann, James Banhagel, Charles Boughey, Willis Johnson and Joseph Grace, all of Ionia.
