He had been feeling ill for several days. He appeared to be feeling better Friday evening despite his illness of earlier in the week. He spent the evening with his family at home watching television. For many years Mr. Rivett lived in Detroit and return to Ionia to live a number of years ago. He was a member of the Ionia city police force for some time immediately following his return to Ionia. Until about a years ago he owned and operated a service station west of the Ionia city limits on West Lincoln avenue. At the time of his death he was employed at the new machine shop at the corner of Hudson and Adams streets. Born in England, January 3, 1901, Mr. Rivett came to American with his late parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Rivett, from England. He was the oldest of four sons. In Ionia he was a member of the St. John’s Episcopal church. Surviving are his wife, Marguerite; a brother, K. Arthur Rivett, Muir businessman; and an uncle, Arthur Rivett, of McTeer, Canada. Funeral arrangements are to be announced later upon return of his brother, Arthur, from Chicago who was attending the furniture show when informed of his brother’s sudden death.
