She was born December 13, 1867, in Paris, France; the daughter of Nicholas and Elizabeth Damond. She came to this country with her parents at the age of two and lived on a farm in Newton township, Calhoun county. Her parents became citizens at Marshall. She married Edward F. Roatch of Newton township September 3, 1884. He died June 30, 1946, at the home of Mrs. Gray in Lyons. They had 11 children. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Newton Wiggens of Jackson, Mrs. Dan Getty of Charlotte, Mrs. Leo Bradstreet and Mrs. John LaGoo? of Climax, and Mrs. Gray of Lyons; one son, John L. Roatch of Ludden, N.D.; 22 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the A.C. Hebble funeral home in Battle Creek. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Horn of Ionia, both ministers of the Assembly of God, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Newton cemetery. Bearers will be six grandsons.
