Phillip was born May 9, 1934, in Fenwick, the son of Floyd and Gladys Richards Roberts. He graduated from Greenville High School with the class of 1953 and had retired from Steelcase in Grand Rapids. He proudly served his country from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War. Phillip was a hard worker and a jack of all trades. He enjoyed life at his own little corner of the world in Orleans. He was a loving brother, husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was married on Oct. 9, 1953, in Greenville to Wanda Decker. Phillip was preceded by his parents; infant son, Ricky Duane Roberts, in 1954; four brothers, Richard, Stuart, Floyd and Ronald; sister, Norma Brown; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edgar and Phyllis Decker. He is survived by his wife, Wanda; their children and spouses, Ritchie and Sue Roberts of Talbott, Tenn., Vicki and Owen Gilbert of Belding; grandchildren, Jamie and Randy Lowe, Shawn Roberts, Nate Meyers and fiancée Jessica Wrath, Lacey and Carl Bowerman, Shannon Taylor; great-grandchild, Rilea Lowe, with two more on the way; siblings and two very special sisters and their spouses, Donnie and Bill Thiedeman of Belding, Pat and Jerry Bissell of Orleans, Kenneth Roberts of Belding, Marie Body of Florida, Marilyn Webster of Michigan; sisters-in-law, Alice Roberts of Fenwick, Donna Roberts of Orleans, Mary Roberts of Florida; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Duane and Kathy Decker of Greenville; several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral and committal services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor Kendall Harger of Shiloh Community Church officiating. Interment is in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to Ionia Area Hospice.
