Ionia Daily Standard – Friday 5 May 1899
Samuel C. Roberts, aged 65, died at his home in Ionia township about three 
miles east of city yesterday afternoon, from chronic diarrhea.  Funeral 
services at residence at 1:30 pm Saturday.  Interment in Highland Park 
cemetery.  Deceased served in the civil war as a member of Co. C. new Third 
infantry of this state.  He was a member of Wm. H. Borden post, and the post 
will attend the funeral in a body.
