The Remains of Mrs.Freelove Roberts Laid to Rest in Lakeview Cemetery. Died:-Mrs. Freelove Roberts Saturday November 9, 1889, of heart trouble caused by old age, aged 83 years, 6 months and 3 days, at the home of her daughter, Mrs.Aaron Shellenbarger. Death comes at all times and at all places.This time about which we are to chronicle it came to summon, Grandma Roberts, as she was most commonly known. Her death had been expected daily for two weeks previous to her death.Three weeks ago Sunday she came to town to hear Rev. Sedwick preach. She attended church twice that day and returned home to her daughter's. Mrs. Shellenbarger, where she has been making it her home for some time past.From then on she has been failing. Thursday night she had a stroke of paralysis which probably hastened her end. Freelove Draper was born in Naples, Ontario, Co., N.Y.,May 6, 1896, making her 83 years, 6months and 3 days old. At the age of 17 she embraced religion and united with the Methodist Episcopal church of which she was a consistent member until her God who gave her being called her to a higher, brighter sphere to receive the reward which she had so justly earned. February 4th, 1824 she was married to Curtis Roberts in Naples,NY. and soon after moved to Pennsylvania. Twelve children were born to them viz, Alonzo, Amos, Laura,Emily, Percilla, Lenora, all of whom are dead, also the father who died in Pennsylvania. Those who survive her are Mrs.Betsy P.Shepard, of Odessa, Daniel F., of Woodland, Mrs.Cordelia Otto, of Odessa, Francis M., of Rutland township,Barry Co., Mrs.Emma Goldring, of this place, Mrs. Emmaretta Shellenbarger, of Odessa. In 1870, when a widow she came to Michigan and lived at Jackson and Muir and then came to Woodland. The life of Mrs.Roberts was an exemplary christian one never speaking ill of anyone and a kind, cheering word of encouragement to all. She was a king and loving mother always advising for the right and the children, who are now grown to manhood and womanhood will miss her deeply to cheer them on in their path of life.She was a neighbor whom everyone loved and spoke in the highest words of praise. Her funeral occurred Monday morning at 10:30 in the M.E.Church, Rev. Sedwick preaching the discourse from 13th chapter of 1st Cor., 13th verse. G.A.Weed, funeral director. She was laid to rest in the Lakeview Cemetery.
