Nov. 22, 1965 LYONS- Following a lengthy illness, Hugh J. Robertson, 84, Ionia, died Saturday evening at the home of his son, Alex, in Lowell. Born April 12, 1881 in Pewamo the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Robertson, he was married in March of 1902 to Della Lucretia Gee of Pewamo. She died in October of 1917. The family had resided in Lyons where Mr. Robertson was employed at J.H. Hale Sons Milling Company and later moved to Ionia where he continued his work with the Hale company. Mr. Robertson was a Spanish-American War veteran and an active member of the Frank D. Curtis camp USWV. He was a life and 50-year member of Lyons lodge F&AM. Surviving are four sons, Clarence Robertson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Hughie of Ionia, Alex of Lowell. Alden of Honolulu, Hawaii; two daughters, Mrs. Velma Hilabridle of Williamston, Mrs. Alice Reeder of Sidney; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Bertha Lockwood of Ionia, Mrs. Queenie Barnard of Portland, Mrs. Fannie Morton of Grand Ledge, Grace Robertson of Mulliken; two brothers, John of Hubbardston and Albert of Lansing. One brother, Alex, and a sister, Florence, preceded him in death. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Myers funeral home in Ionia with the Rev. R.M. Vanden Bosch of Woodland Methodist church officiating. Graveside service at Pewamo cemetery will be by members of Lyons Masonic Lodge.
