HIs funeral will be attended from the Church of Christ at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. THE LATE DUNCAN ROBERTSON There was a large attendance at the funeral of the late Duncan Robertson at the Church of Christ Friday afternoon. Forty comrades of Wm. H. Borden post, G.A.R., under Commander Phelps were the escort and two son and two nephews bore the remains. A large number of beautiful floral tributes rested upon the casket and were arranged about it. Rev. W.H. Scott preached a touching funeral discourse, and the singing by Mrs. Livermore and two other ladies was excellent and appropriate. Duncan Robertson was born at Inverness, Scotland, June 12, 1827. At the age of 25 years he came to Canada and three or fours years later to this state, locating in Orleans, from which township he enlisted in Co. K. First Michigan Engineers and Mechanics, in which he served faithfully for nearly two years ad a half. He was discharged for disability a short time before the regiment was mustered out. After the war he settled on a farm in Ionia township, where he resided until last spring, when he became a resident of this city. Ionia Sentinel - Thursday, 08 Sept. 1892, p. 6 Mr. Robertson was married in Canada and two sons by his first wife survive him - Wm. D. Robertson of Ronald and Henry J. Robertson of Ionia township. Soon after his return from the army he was married to Mrs. Sarah Kerton, who survives him, as do a brother and for sisters - David Robertson and Mrs. Eliza Dyer of Lake county, Mrs. Samuel Loomis of Ronald, Mrs. John Dick of Easton and Mrs. Jane McDonald living in Scotland. Thirty-five years ago Mr. Robertson was baptized into the Church of Christ at Woodard lake. Later he joined the Ionia church, of which he was an honored elder at the time of his death. His religious lite was notable and his personal excellencies we I known to every one of his acquaintance. Before the unsuccessful operation he was convinced that he was suffering his last sickness, but after he rallied from the critical operation he was confident that he would recover. When he was told that he must die he was entirely resigned and four hours before he passed away he called his wife and sons to him and talked calmly of his hopes for the hereafter and gave them his parting counsels. Mr. Robertson was faithful and earnest in every relation and his loss will be sorely felt by a large circle of devoted friends and especially by the church of which he has been so long a pillar.
