Oct. 15, 2008 Patricia Ann Robinson, 80, died on Oct. 12, 2008 at the home of her daughter, Connie Ann Robinson and son-in-law, Barton Mansfield Zachrich. Pat was an active community member and lifelong resident of Ionia, where she was born on May 8, 1928, the daughter of Bernard and Ethel may Griffin. Pat graduated from Ionia High School in 1942 and received her bachelor’s degree in Education from Western Michigan University in 1969. She devoted her life to her family and her career to teaching in the Ionia Public School District. On Feb. 15, 1947, she married George William Robinson, who preceded her in death on July 29, 1984. She was a devout member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ionia where she supported and influenced outreach to the community through her generous volunteer work. Pat was an avid reader and outdoor enthusiast. She loved to walk, compete in archery and golf. She cherished her time with her family and friends and former students. She also enjoyed may travel adventures throughout her life. Surviving are two children, Connie (Barton), of Haslett and John of Chelsea; five grandchildren, Breeann (Matthew) of Lowell, Brent of East Lansing, Brady of Virginia Beach, Va., Matthew, of Chelsea and Erin of Chelsea; and two great- grandchildren, Treaden of East Lansing and Cole of Lowell. Preceding her in death were her parents, Bernard and Ethel May Griffin; two sisters, Geraldine Bales (Peg) and Agnes (Lorraine) Smith, and her brother Gerald Griffin. A memorial service will be held on Oct. 25, 2008 at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church with a brunch in celebration of her life immediately following the service.
